Jennifer Whitty is an educator, researcher, designer, facilitator, and writer with over a decade of global experience in the field of sustainable design systems. She holds multiple roles at Parsons, The New School, New York, as the Coordinator of the BFA Fashion Systems and Society pathway and the coordinator and course lead for the fashion sustainability certificate at the Open Campus. Her work aims to usher in a new era of deep systemic change for global fashion that is expansive and diverse, rooted in social and environmental justice. Reimagining mindsets, models, and systems for fashion through the integration of theory and practice and the lens of holistic systems, decolonisation, ecology, transition design, and earth logic. Jennifer publishes and exhibits widely in both academic and popular media, most recently the book ‘Global Perspectives on Sustainable Fashion’ 2019. She strongly believes in global diversity and consideration of multiple world-views and values and is one of the first foreign recipients of the prestigious Thousand Talents Program Scholarship, leading a team of researchers in China to define, explore, and develop sustainable fashion systems.
